It is said that there was a person named Mohandas. Who was the supreme devotee of Balaji. It is said that Balaji was very pleased with his devotion, and one day he promised to meet him in the form of an idol.
It is said that to fulfill this promise, Balaji appeared in Asota village of Nagaur district in 1811.
It is said that one day a Jat farmer was working on his field in Asota village, he was plowing the field. Only then, while harvesting the crop, the tip of his plow collides with a hard stone-like object. When the Jat digs it out, a stone comes out. When that Jat cleans that stone, a glimpse of Balaji is seen in it.
Only then the wife of that Jat farmer brings food, and she first offers bajra churma to Balaji. This is the reason why even today Balaji is offered bajra churma.
It is also believed that on the same day the Jat took out the idol, Balaji came in his dream to Thakur of the village and asked him to take the idol to Salasar, and Balaji told Mohandas in his dream that the bullock cart from which My idol will come to Salasar, no one should move it. My temple should be established where that bullock cart stops.
The bullock cart came to a stop where the present temple is located. That’s why Balaji’s temple was established at that place, and it is said that Mohandas was first given darshan by Balaji with beard and moustache, hence Balaji’s beard and moustache are there in this temple.
