History of Jantar Mantar
Delhi’s Jantar Mantar is an astronomical observatory. It was built by Maharaja Jai Singh Second in 1724 along with the other four Jantar Mantars. The other four are Jantar Mantar, which are located in Ujjain, Varanasi, Mathura and Jaipur.
Once upon a time there was a debate between Hindu and Muslim astronomers regarding the position of the planets. To end this, Jaisingh had built this Jantar Mantar. Many types of instruments are installed here to measure the condition of the planets. Such as Samrat Yantra, Mistra Yantra, Ram Yantra, Jayaprakash Yantra. Here the Samrat Yantra can measure the time and the position of the planets with the help of the Sun, and the Mistra Yantra can measure the longest day and the shortest day. With the help of these two instruments, the Rama Yantra and the Jai Prakash Yantra can determine the motion of bodies.
