Shri Adhya Katyayani Shaktipeeth Temple History

Chhatarpur is a temple located in the south of Delhi. The name of this temple is Shri Adhya Katyayani Temple (shri adhya katyayani shaktipeeth mandir). It is the second largest temple complex in India. Which is dedicated to Goddess Katyayani. This temple was established in 1974 by Baba Nagpal. This temple is situated in Chhatarpur near Gurgaon Maharani Marg. White marble has been used to build this temple. Although this temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga, but there are also temples of other deities, such as Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi, Hanuman and Ram etc. This temple is spread over an area of more than 70 acres.

The history behind this is that, once a sage was doing severe penance So that Durga Maa is pleased with his penance and appears in front of him and asks him to ask for a boon. Then sage says that you should be born in my house as my daughter. After that Durga Maa takes birth in his house as his daughter. Since then she is known as Katyayani Devi.
