Then King Shantanu who was Bhishma’s father meets two children in the forest and recognizes them as the children of Sage Sharadwan as the children have a bow and deer skin. Raja takes the children with him and takes good care of them.

Due to the kindness shown by King Shantanu to the children, the son was named Kripacharya and the daughter was named Kripi.
