History of Gurudwara Bangla Sahib

Gurudwara Bangla Sahib in Delhi is the most prominent Sikh gurudwara and house of worship in India. This Gurudwara Bangla Sahib of Delhi is very famous because of the eighth Guru Har Krishna here as well as a lake present inside this Gurudwara. It was established as a small temple in 1783 by the Sikh general Sardar Baghel Singh, in a bungalow donated by Raja Rai Singh of Amer. Due to the stay of Guru Har Rai in this gurdwara, it is now known as Gurdwara Bangla Sahib.

Guru Har krishna is said to have resided in this bungalow in 1664, when diseases like cholera and smallpox were rampant. Then Guru Har Krishna helped the victims with the water of the well present here. That is why today the water of that well is highly revered, and many Sikhs even take it to their homes.
