History of Shri Gauri Shankar Temple at Chandni Chowk
Shri Gauri Shankar Mandir is one of the famous temples of Delhi. This temple is very famous. Here the form of Lord Shiva can be seen as Ardhanarishwar. It is located at Chandni Chowk in New Delhi. People believe that if any devotee comes to this temple with a wish, it is surely fulfilled by the grace of Lord Shiva.
This temple is about 800 years old. In 1761, Maratha soldier Apa Gangadhar got the building of this temple constructed. A pyramid is built on top of this temple, below which the name of this temple is written. Several decades after its construction, this temple was rebuilt in 1959 by Seth Jaipur. He worshiped in this temple, and installed the idols of Mother Parvati and her sons Ganesha and Kartikeya along with the idol of Lord Shiva in this temple.
